How long is IOSH managing safely? ›

The IOSH Managing Safely course takes place over three days in the classroom, or typically 8 - 12 hours of online study, and is designed for those responsible for the safety and well-being of one or more person in the workplace. View IOSH Courses.

IOSH Working Safely is a one-day course covering the essentials of health and safety in the workplace. It is aimed at all employees in all types of organisation. IOSH Working Safely looks at people's responsibilities for health and safety, workplace hazards and risks, and how to control them.

IOSH Managing Safely is a Level 2 qualification (equivalent to a GCSE) that takes three days, an exam and a practical project to complete. If you pass successfully, you leave with heightened hazard perception and risk assessment know-how, plus a certificate to prove your knowledge.

The IOSH Managing Safely® Exam demonstrates the student's understanding of the information contained within the course. The exam is taken online, so there is no need to attend a training centre. The exam consists of multiple choice questions and must be completed within 45 minutes.

How difficult is IOSH Managing Safely? Anyone can take and pass the IOSH Managing Safely course. The IOSH Managing Safely is a Level 2 course, suitable for team leaders, managers and supervisors. No prior knowledge of health and safety is required, but a good standard of English is recommended.

Both IOSH and NEBOSH are highly respected and offer the top health and safety courses in the UK, but courses from NEBOSH are generally considered to be more 'academic' because there is more content to cover and the exams are more rigorous.

It takes around 22 hours to complete an IOSH Managing Safely course. This amount will differ depending on each individual, the time that you can attribute to completing the course, and the route of study that you have chosen.

The IOSH Managing Safely qualification does not expire, but IOSH recommend that you renew your certificate every three years with an IOSH Managing Safely refresher course. This is because health and safety legislation, best practice and guidance changes over time.

As a Technical Member, you can use the letters Tech IOSH after your name. To keep your Technical Membership status, you must maintain your CPD record.
